We’re Back! Catching Up with Ericka Redic on Life, Faith, and Our Upcoming Israel Trip
Hey, y’all! It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? After a long hiatus, Generally Irritable with Ericka Redic is back, and we’re ready to make some noise! In our latest episode, Benjamin and I jumped back into the fray to share what’s been going on, why we stepped away, and what’s next—including an exciting trip to Israel. Buckle up, because we’re diving into faith, politics, and the pursuit of truth with our signature no-nonsense style.
Why the Break?
If you’ve been wondering, “Where’d Ericka go?”—you’re not alone. After my 2022 congressional campaign, I made a deliberate choice to shift my focus to my business. Running for office was a wild ride, but it came with sacrifices. As a self-employed entrepreneur for over eight years, I learned the hard way that if you don’t work, you don’t eat. So, I poured my energy into growing my business, and I’m thrilled to share that we now have six employees! (Cue the confetti—hiring even one employee used to scare me silly.)The last couple of years have been about building something sustainable to take care of my family. But don’t worry—we haven’t gone soft. We’re back to bring you the real talk you’ve been missing.
Stepping Away from the Noise
In a world full of social media talking heads shouting into the void, I didn’t want to add to the chaos. It’s easy to hop on YouTube and rant about how terrible everything is, but that’s not my style. Instead, Benjamin and I want to be sane, reasonable voices in a world that feels like it’s losing its grip. Lately, we’ve seen political assassinations, division, and what I’m not afraid to call a psyop—a deliberate attempt to tear us apart from the inside. (Yes, I’m putting on my tinfoil hat for this one!) From Yuri Bezmenov in the ‘60s to modern-day chaos agents, the playbook hasn’t changed: divide, conquer, and destabilize. But here’s the kicker: as Christians, we have the answer. It’s not rage or revenge—it’s Jesus. If we want to heal our country and bridge the divide, it starts with us. We need to stop spewing hate and start sharing the gospel. Identity, belonging, and purpose—that’s what people are craving. Instead of mutilating their bodies or chasing extremes, imagine if folks found those things in a community of Bible-believing Christians who love like Jesus did. That’s the mission, y’all.
The Political-Cultural Mess We Can’t Ignore
Benjamin and I don’t love wading into politics, but when it’s woven into every corner of our culture, it’s impossible to avoid. From people who seem to hate America to those pushing for a complete overhaul of our freedoms, we’re seeing ideas that just don’t make sense. Benjamin put it perfectly: it’s like learning the rules of American football, only for someone to demand we switch to soccer halfway through the game. Nope, not on our watch. We’re especially excited about an upcoming project: a conversation between Benjamin Franklin (played by our friend Chip Howell from Elephant Room Strategies) and Mark Meckler from Convention of States. It’s a fun, thought-provoking chat about the Constitution and where we’re headed. Stay tuned for that!
Off to Israel: A Dream Trip
Now, for the big news: we’re headed to Israel! We’re joining a delegation of state representatives and senators to see the Holy Land up close. As Christians, walking where Jesus walked is a dream come true. But this trip is about more than spiritual enrichment. With so much noise about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, we want firsthand experience—not just recycled talking points from TV.We’ll be talking to Israelis, Arabs, and others to understand the reality on the ground. Too many people opine about places like Judea, Samaria, or Gaza without ever setting foot there. We’re not about that life. Just like when we visited the U.S. border to see the immigration crisis for ourselves, we’re committed to bringing you the truth, not just adding to the noise.
A Word on Israel and the Conflict
Let’s get real about the Israeli-Palestinian situation. As a military brat who worked security at Fort Hood during a terrorist attack, I have zero tolerance for terrorism—period. Hamas hiding munitions in hospitals, schools, and churches? That’s not the hero’s move. Heroes don’t take hostages or target civilians. The deaths of Palestinians lie at the feet of Hamas, not Israel. That said, we’re not here to cheerlead for any government—Israel’s included. No government is perfect, and the U.S. isn’t exactly a shining example of that either. But as Christians, we have a vested interest in the Holy Land being led by an ally friendly to the U.S. and Christians. It’s where our faith was born, and we’re not apologizing for wanting stability there.
The Call to Action
Here’s the bottom line: we don’t want to see anyone die. Not Palestinians, not Israelis, not Americans. Every loss is a missed chance to come together and share the hope of Jesus. Let’s stop feeding the spirit of division. Prep your family, protect your loved ones—yes, be ready to be part of a well-armed militia if needed—but don’t let anger and revenge win. Our Lord wants revival, not retribution. So, go make disciples, y’all. Don’t be an asshole. (Yeah, I said it.) Share the gospel, call out evil when you see it, and let’s be the light in a world that’s desperate for hope.
